Ear Loops?
by: Anonymous

Hi Debra, received the photo AOK and have attached to your original question. I'm just trying to imagine what the "large" ear loop looks like in real life. The ear loop is found on some very ancient types of earring ornaments in which the "loop" encircles most of the ear, rather than being wired through or attached to the ear lobe itself.

Regards

Yvonne

If it is genuine turquoise, the earring could have originated from the middle-east. Iran has been an important source of turquoise for over 2,000 years. These deposits along with those of the Sinai Peninsular are the oldest known. Naturally blue, the turquoise turns green when heated due to dehydration. If the turquoise is from Iran then it could in fact be a museum piece.

Very Old Earring

Hi Debra
thanks for sending in your jewelry question. The earring does indeed look ancient. Is there any chance of uploading another photo taken from another angle so we can see the back of the earring or the earring finding part?
