Aqua Ring | Enclosed six-pointed star mark

by Annette
(Washington, DC)

I'm thinking of buying a .65 carat aquamarine ring with a 14k white gold filigree setting. Next to the "14k" mark is a symbol of a six-pointed star enclosed in a six-sided figure (like a pentagon but with an additional side).

Can you please provide all background information?
The seller bought it at an estate sale and knows nothing about its origin.

What are the markings?
As described above. Each star point touches the middle of a side. It really looks like a star enclosed in a six-sided box.

Where are the markings?
The "14k" and the mark I've described are on the left inside band of the ring; they are right next to each other and the star symbol is closer to the gem.
