Test It & get it Appraised
by: Anonymous

the marks in the ring are not clear so I can't see how your marks could be identical? I would check that "gp" is not referring to gold plate? Have you checked that it is a genuine diamond? Even if it is gold plate it could still be quite valuable if it's antique costume. Costume jewelry is skyrocking in prices, one of the reasons is because it's a sustainable jewelry alternative. That's just one reason.

Get it appraised online after you have had the gold and diamonds tested.

Hi, your ring was assayed and made in london, the date letter is u. There are loads of hallmark sites online, there you can see all the date letters for london and look for the shape of your box around the u . Then try and locate it on the hallmark list for london . Good luck, i do have an hallmark book but i have put it away and its 2.40 am!

The Hallmarks Will Confirm Authenticity
by: Candice

Lavinia, your ring looks lovely, and it does have the look and style of an antique gold ring. Oh, the ecstasy of gold! 18 carat gold and above, has a beautiful incomparable rich yellow color like the color of the metal of your ring. Lavinia, what makes you think it is 1875? I'd guess, but i'm not an expert, slighter earlier. around the 1840's in the Victorian time line, gold mountings embellished with half pearls were popular during that period.

There should be a date letter, if it was made in the UK within this set of hallmarks. Gracious me, I can't see the marks. maybe someone with better vision can see these marks.

Candice
