CAMEO RING

Hi, my father gave me this ring about 30 years ago, and I know he had it for several years prior to that. He collected old watches and jewelry.

It's not marked 14K anywhere, is it possible it was made before they started marking gold? Also my financial situation is such that I am unloading a lot of things.

Would I be better to sell this as is, an antique cameo ring? Or just sell it to a gold buyer for the gold, he/she can melt it down and do what they want with the cameo.
Any idea of age or value?

Thanks! my email is: cindo3 AT msn DOT com
