London Town Mark, Gold Standard Mark but looks reddish like Copper.
by: Anonymous

Hi Nadine,

the marks sound like UK hallmarks. In 1854 there was a major change to hallmarking which allowed the carat number, (in this instance "9") PLUS the millesimal value .375.

The reddish copper gold color could indicate "rose-gold" (which does have a percentage of copper).

The letters G.J are the maker's mark.

The cat face is the London Town Mark - it's a Leopard. Uncrowned 1822 to present.

You can find lots more info on British Hallmarks in the Jewelry Resources.

best wishes,
Yvonne Hammouda-Eyre
