Coating Pearls

I have a set of pearls that I was given as a young girl. Unfortunately I was not aware of the proper way to care for pearls and they have since become extremely chipped and tarnished. They were given to me by my grandfather who has since become deceased. They are extremely sentimental to me and I would love to wear them to my wedding next year. Is there any way/place to have them coated in fish scales like imitation pearls?

I know the best thing to do is replace them but I really want to have the actual pearls my grandfather gave me. I do not care about their value or not having genuine nacre.
