English Saxon Style Ring
by: Anonymous

Hi Michael thank you for your question. What an interesting finger ring! It looks similar to archaeological REVIVAL jewelry.

Archaeological jewelry was made in the 19th century. It was inspired by the Etruscan archaeological discoveries. However this ring looks more in style with English Saxon revival finger rings.

In England Saxon rings of the 9th/11th centuries were made of gold wire, some having the wire twisted, others plaited and flattened at the back hoop. Twisted wire of gold has been used in jewelry from ancient times.

Is the twisted wire in the rings also 18ct gold?

best wishes,
Yvonne Hammouda-Eyre
