ANGEL Skin Antique Cameo
by: Anonymous

Hi Maureen
thanks for writing in. Antique cameos may be carved in a number of materials, these include, putty lava, green lava, sardonyx, shell, pale pink shell called ANGELSKIN, coral, red Noble coral, orange Peach coral, malachite, and even unusual piece in genuine tortoise shell and although not normally classified as a "cameo" in the strict sense, metal in particular the noble metal SILVER, which is a relatively soft metal, we have seen with beautiful maiden in cameo relief on Antique Jewelry Investor here.

Roman features depicted on some antique cameos are usually associated with Greek mythology. You can find more info about Greek mythological cameos here.

Hi Maureen
what a lovely cameo. I am just a viewer here on Antique Jewelry Investor but would love to see your cameo if you could upload a photo, that is.
