"GALT18k"

I have a plain gold wedding band with the stamp - GALT18k.

I know the jeweler in Washington DC was founded in 1802 and closed doors about 7 or 8 years ago. The interesting thing is that this ring was dug at a Civil War site in VA and I'm told that the ring appears to be "old"!

Don't know if the above stamp is actually a hallmark but it is the only thing stamped.
