Gold Diamond Ring with NO Hallmark

i have a gold ring (probably 9ct) with a rose cut dimond in.

It has no hallmarks that i can see. I just wondered how i'm supposed to find out how old it might be. I was given it by my grandfather and just wondered if it was my grannys or went further back in the family.
