Fine Filligree & FF
by: Gina

Hello there, would you know if the letters "FF" that you mention might be for "Fine Filigree" is a common mark that you see on jewellery? Is it commonly seen on fine filigree Antique Jewellery?

Thanks for any help in advance. Gina

Heavy Vintage Coral Ring
by: Anonymous

Hi James thanks for writing in with the following hallmark question:

"Do you know what they may be the maker or designer's initials. They are not the owners initials. I asked before coming here. The ring is made of yellow gold very asian in design and in HEAVY gold work, and has a really rich large red coral stone in the center. Approximate age is 1960's to 70's era. Any hep you can give me is great."

Sounds like a lovely vintage coral ring. True coral is much heavier than its imitations. It effervesces when just touched with nitric acid. Coral jewelry became fashionable again starting in the 1920's.

Possibly,

F. & F Felger, Inc.

Hard to tell with out a photo though.

best wishes,
Yvonne Hammouda-Eyre
