RGP and fractions

Hi Joyce thanks for writing in and thank you for your patience.
Ok. The metal is Rolled Gold Plate. It is an older word for gold filled.

The electroplating process was first used in the 1840s. RGP is the same process as GF however the sheets of gold were usually thicker. The fraction mark is the percentage of 10K solid gold in the ring.

The mark of the indian chief head profile is the maker's mark of the company or individual who registered the mark.
