Flying Blind
by: Pete

Hi this information is too vague, I'm flying blind. Dots within a square, a crown? (there are hundreds of them) and without the benefit of an image of the mark, sorry I cannot research this mark.

If you have an image of the mark, and the ring, you might like to get an Expert Appraisal carried out. This way you will also have a Valuation as the value of what the piece is worth is included.

The Expert Appraisal Form Can Be Found HERE

Pete

Information appreciated
by: Anonymous

My mom acquired a ring with 2 diamonds and 2 rubies. It was confirmed by a jeweler the stones are real and it's 18kt gold. There is a crown with three points inside a square. There are also numbers on it wich she said looks like 6189 or some combination of those numbers. Any thoughts>

Arch Crown Manufacturing Co
by: Anonymous

Good Morning,

the 14 in a square box could be the gold purity, the percentage of pure gold in your antique wedding ring, which is 58.5 % Gold Content OR the 14 in a box could be part of the maker's mark. Unfortunately we do not have an image to see , however, if you can see an upside down U, followed by 14 followed by a three pointed crown all within a rectangle, this is a USA sponsor's mark -ARCH CROWN MFG Co. (mostly Diamond Rings, Newark, NJ, USA) - ca 1904 - 1930s

by: Anonymous

SOLID GOLD?
by: Anonymous

Hi Alta thank you for the following jewelry mark question.
"I have 2 very old gold wedding bands.
1. It simply says solid gold.
2. In the other it is stamped 08 then there are 3 crowns, 1 on top of 2, then there is a octogon shape, then the letter F. What does this mean? "

Alta, I'm always a bit suspicious when I see a wedding band marked "SOLID GOLD". This is the reason why:

There were rings in the 1800's marked SOLID GOLD when they were in fact heavy gold filled and there are still many of these rings in circulation. Your local jeweler can acid test to determine the gold composition.

2. Strange one. The SWEDEN Country mark is three crowns and Standard mark however the crowns are 2 on top of 1. If it is silver the letter S will be next door in a hexagon.

Maybe a pseudo-swedish mark? Not sure.

best wishes,
Yvonne Hammouda-Eyre
