Mexico Cultured Pearls

I have a 4 strand necklace of cultured pearls that were bought in Mexico from 40 to 50 years ago. The clasp is not special, a hook and a strand of small pearls with silver loops in between them. Also the pearls are not tied. They are just strung on string. They have a slight discolor to them and I know they have not been worn for at least 20 years. Do you have any advice or comments about Mexico pearls? Grandma said she paid a lot for them but I don't know how much.
