High Carat Gold and Traditional Antique Wedding Rings
by: Anonymous

Hi thanks for writing in. The provenance, or history of ownership in title does not agree. So that we know which time-frame to commence our research, could you please confirm history of ownership.

Also could you provide more details, this will help a lot; for instance, is there a dot between the letters, are the letters in a type of shield, and if so what is the shape of this imprint, how many points in the star, is it a plain gold wedding band or set with a stone or many stones? These details can save us hours of research.

the number "22" indicates the gold standard. The ring is of high quality gold and the high caratage may indicate the ring is an antique wedding ring. We need more info to understand the provenance, and other details, and an image of the marks would greatly help.

From 1576 - 1798 only the highest gold carat (22 caratage) was used in crafting gold wedding rings. Traditionally antique gold weddings rings in Great Britain were made of 22 carat gold.

22 carat gold, fineness of 916 is also the recognised standard in India and the sub continent.

Gold in India is shining again. Click here for more info......
