Open Back Cameo Earrings

Hello...my question is this. Is it true the open back cameo earring is valuable? My cameo is a kind of pink colour and is totally encased like a ring would be in gold. It also has a decorative small piece of gold to put the earring hook into. They are for pierced ears.
