However, often the giver may not be aware of your personal preferences, ie for a specific type of pearl, perhaps akoya, or the color of pearl - the color of pearls are personal and should be carefully chosen as color of pearl can compliment the skin tone, or maybe you would like a certain length. However well intentioned the gifter may be, they may not have knowledge of pearls to make a well-informed purchase.
