Vintage Mikimoto Cultured Pearls

Hi Phyllis thank you for writing in with the following pearl question:


"I have a pair of Mikimoto 18 in graduated pearls from the 60's
could you give me an idea of what they are worth."

Phyllis, do you mean a classic double strand of Mikimoto Cultured Pearls? Or two separate graduated single strands of Mikimoto pearls?

Here are some more questions you should to consider when pricing Mikimoto pearls:

Are the pearls in their original Mikimoto box? Does the necklace have the Mikimoto signature clasp? The letter M in a clam shell?
Is the metal white gold? What is the gold content of the clasp? 750 or 18kt?

What are the size of the pearls, the diameter of the largest pearl and the smallest pearl? What color are the pearls? What is the condition of the pearls? Is there a Mikimoto certificate?

We don't do valuations on Antique Jewelry Investor but just to give you an idea of what vintage Mikimoto cultured pearls are selling for in 2010, this beautiful Mikimoto strand of pearls is dated 1980s and is a 18 3/8" strand of pearls that measure 7 - 6.5 mm (diameter). These pearls are Not graduated but seller has them priced at $1,900 USD SALE.
