How do I add pictures to this post? I took a few and 3 turned out pretty good. I will upload them if I can figure out how to add pictures.

Possibly Latin Motto Inscription
by: Yvonne

Good Morning,

Virginia, your ring sounds intriguing. Unfortunatley we do not have an image to go by. It sounds like it could be a moulded ring engraved with a latin motto and brought back to my memory the "serjeant ring" which was of legal significance centuries ago...

The "serjeant" ring was a type of finger ring which was presented by an English barrister upon being called to Serjeant at law (a judicial post held before becoming a judge, abolished in 1875), to officials, and also friends.

Each donor was given a large amount and as a number of serjeants were called simultaneously the quantity was vst, although rare today as most were melted down for the gold. They varied in weight according to the rank of the donee, but all were costly. The custom continued from the 15th century until 1875.

Best Wishes,

Yvonne
