Shooting star w/hammer & sickle with the letter explaining and it looks like .GEE
by: Anonymous

I found this ring at an auction and was told it was a Russian ring 14k but no other info. The ring has a lion on the top and appears to be reddish gold in color. It is stamped with a shooting star with a hammer and sickle inside it. There us a letter "E" before the stamp. It's also stamped 583 and another stamp that either says .GEE of .633. Any help would be fabulous

Russia used to use the same symbols for Silver AND Gold
583 = 14K = ? Silver, 84 = 875 Silver or = 24K

Russian District Mark
by: Anonymous

Hi JD - the marks might possibly be the USSR Mint Mark (district number varies).
