S D Makers Marks or UK Pseudomarks?
by: Anonymous

Hi Jane thank you for your question.

OK. Some US marks resemble UK marks and are called pseudomarks. Your marks describe like a set of British hallmarks that that have 3-5 Marks, not necessarily aligned or oriented the same way. However, we can't be certain without seeing the marks OR if you are unable to upload a photo, we need more details such as:

Is there a cartouche shape behind the marks? What is the shape of the cartouche ? Oval, rectangle, etc.

Is there an actual ampersand (&) between the S and D ?

Does the ring LOOK old? Basic question, but some people forget this basis test.

Can you tell me if the stones are old-cut or not? The stones could be imitation, synthetics or natural stones, created by God.

Once we have more information to go by we might get closer to working this one out. You are welcome to upload a photo of the marks in a follow-up submission if you wish. Please use "SD Makers Marks" in the subject heading so that we can assign to your question.

Best Regards
Yvonne Hammouda-Eyre
