Carved Laurel Branch in Quartz Crystal

Hi Thank you for writing in with the following antique jewelry question.

"I have an 18k gold signet ring. On the top is an oval crystal and carved into the crystal is a crown with an arm coming out of it holding a laurel branch. could you tell me anything about it."


OK. laurel is from a latin word, and in ancient history the lady Laurifer carrying laurel crowned with laurel triumphant victorious. Laureate means crowned with laurel.
