Bars on the clasps
by: Anonymous

Do Tiffany & Co designers use specific bars on the clasps? Example: Elsa Peretti, is the oval bar used by clasp? Paloma Picasso, the dog bone? I’ve been shopping for a bean bracelet with 3 beans on eBay, Poshmark and Mercari and they all have the dog bone bar. I was told that Elsa Peretti only uses the oval bars. All of the other hallmarks look real. I can’t find anything anywhere about designers only using certain bars. Please help!!

Yes, multiple Tiffany markings
by: Anonymous

I have a lot of jewelry experience and talked to many dealers. There were many different ways Tiffany marked jewelry. In the beginning, Tiffany outsourced jewelry, meaning other companies were making their jewelry, marking it Tiffany in all caps or Tiffany & Company or Tiffany and Co. and selling it already stamped to Tiffany. So there were different stamps and markings. Yes, many inconsistencies. Then, if you recall Tiffany was bought out and then re-offered to the public (went through many company changes and ownership during recessions) they finally decided on a consistent marking I think around 1990.

Tiffany & Co workmanship
by: Anonymous

Sorry,to say, but it looks very fake. To compare quality of workmanship, see the platinum pendant watch by Tiffany & Co circa 1900s. It has a gold and diamond set fob and open work foliage surmount, set with pearls. Vintage Jewellery, by Caroline Cox.

Tiffany @ Co stamps
by: Anonymous

Evey piece of Tiffany's jewelry is stamped and marked somewhere on the piece.  Compare the markings on the piece being sold to make sure they match the pictures on the Tiffany's web site.  Or if you can't find a signature to compare it to there, call a Tiffany's retailer and ask them what the markings should look like and where they should be located.
There is also a greater risk of it being a fake Tiffany & Co if the meatal s sterling silver rather than say, platinum, for example.
I am also suspicious of these type of name plaques.
