P in a pear
by: Anonymous

I also have a very old ring with a P in a pear, and yes, definitely a pear, followed by 14k. I thought maybe it was gold plated, but it does not appear to be plated. Has anyone been able to shed any light on this subject yet?

Paramount Wedding Ring Co in Chicago
by: Anonymous

I worked for Paramount Wedding Ring Co. in the 70s-80s which was located at 910 W Jackson in Chicago that had a P inside the Pear for their trademark. The company was privately owned by the Sager family and had been around for quite some time, the great grandfather started it in the 20s or 30's if I remember correctly. They sold to all the top stores in US and also Government PX's world wide for armed forces. When gold went through the roof they had to sell to some company out of Ca.

Mens Wedding Band
by: Anonymous

I also have a men's wedding band that has the P in a Pear shape before the 14K. Also, on the inside it is marked LeGant. The ring appears to be white gold. This is the order in which it appears on my ring. LeGant, P in a pear shape, 14K. It would be nice to solve this puzzle. If I come across anymore info I will surely let everyone know.

I have a ring with the same pear trademark, and have been trying to find info about it. One forum led me to this company that used the pear trademark:
Paramount Wedding Ring Co, a division of Harlyn Products Inc.

My Pear ring
by: Anonymous

I inherited from my grandmother a diamond engagement ring with the same Pear "P" hallmark just as the first person described. Sure does look like a pear and not a plumb. I have tried to find the history of this ring and the pear hallmark, but have not had any luck.

Pear shaped p
by: Anonymous

I found a ring this morning and am waiting to turn it into the office nearby, but am wondering what the pear shape with a P inside means...it too is followed by 14k...I found it in the parking lot of Fort Snelling National Cemetery in St. Paul. I'm assuming someone wanted to leave it on the grave of a loved one so I will turn it in asap but am curious in the meantime when it dates from.

P in a Pear Hallmark
by: Anonymous

My wedding band has what looks like a P inside a pear shaped hallmark followed by 14K. The ring was my grandfathers and most certainly predates the 1978 "plumb" movement. I believe it dates from the late 1930's.

P in a Pear Mark on 14 K
by: Anonymous

I can see an A in an Apple but cannot find a P in a Pear so far. Are you sure it's a P in a pear and not a P in a plumb? I'm serious Dust.

In the United States karat can LEGALLY vary one half of a carat. In 1978 the karat mark followed by a P was introduced to make sure the piece was "plumb" gold. In other words, it is guaranteed by the manufacturer to be no less than 14k.

If there are any "fruity" hallmark experts reading this post who have another idea please feel free to contribute.

Thanks for writing in..
