Generation X Cultured Black Pearls
by: Yvonne

Good Morning

thank you for contacting. With all due respect to the jewelry appraisers out there - vintage, estate, antique jewelry valuations rely on additional factors, information, historical timelines and other data that many so-called "expert" jewelry appraisers (who appraise mostly "new" manufactured jewelry) just don't know about.

Knowledge is power and when it comes to vintage, estate, and antique jewelry, knowledge is also interdependent and generated from a wide range of informational resources, not simply just determined by the material costs alone. There said it!

The Triple row of cultured pearls indicates the date of the necklace to be at the very earliest 1930s but more probably post-1950s when the triple row of pearls made worldwide headlines after the Queen Mother was photographed wearing a triple row of WHITE cultured pearls, holding her young daughter (present Queen of England) in her arms; in the lead-up to Princess Elizabeth's introduction to the world (1953)

However, in this particular case, we have Black Tahitian Cultured pearls - the Generation x Cultured Pearl - Black Cultured Pearls are relatively "modern" in the culturing of pearls timeline.

Black Tahitians earlier than the 1960s when cultured black pearls were first produced pose a very big consideration for the appraiser because the difference in value between cultured black pearls, imitation black pearls, and Natural Black Tahitian pearls is in the thousands.

We would be delighted to value these pearls for you.
