What the Jewelers Loupe can tell you
by: Anonymous

Hi thanks for writing in with the following pearl question:

"hi I've been left some jewellry and 1 piece is a pearl ring. It's either silver or white gold. How do you know its real and is it valuable? "

Determine first if the metal is white gold or silver. Check with a magnifying glass or jeweler's loupe and examine the inside of the band and the outside of the band to see if there are any marks, numbers, letters, etc on the metal and come back and let me know what your findings were. We can then consider the value of the pearl.

You can find info on what the jewelers loupe can tell you here.

best wishes,
Yvonne Hammouda-Eyre
