Hi there, Excellent question. Most certainly I would take the bracelet in and have it checked by your local jeweler. He/She should do an acid test for free with a high end electronic tester.
From what I understand, the markings on your bracelet mean "1/5 9k gold filled" base metal. Normally the mark would be "1/5 9k shell" and not "metal".
