More Information Particularly Concerning the Letters Please
by: Anonymous

Steve, your cameo could be a high quality cameo and an investment worthy cameo, possibly an
antique cameo.

If you can identify the maker, you will be in a better position to date the cameo.

Just because the carving depicts a greek or roman mythological scene doesn't necessarily mean your cameo is an antique cameo.

The maker of the mount will provide more indications concerning the date here. But then you have another identification conundrum, of comparing the cameo and the mount and considering if the setting was created at the same time this cameo was carved. Sorry if I sound difficult.

The age, the condition, rarity factor and the carver's art should all be considered when determining your asking price.

Great cameos are a work of art and there are cameo collectors on the look out and ready to invest in good quality cameo artwork.

Can you provide more information about the maker's mark the letters - AP

are the letters in an imprint
is there a shape around the letters
is there a dot between the letters

any details - a photo would be great

when we can determine the maker or the age - you might like to list
this cameo on the Antique Jewelry Investor Jewelry Exchange

Kind Regards
Yvonne
