"Cameo shell", "sardonyx shell" & "carnelian shell" are terms used in the cameo world, but since you need to buy a whole shell the terms you need to search shell dealers' listings are "helmet shell" & "cassis" (the Latin for helmet).

Carnelian shell usually come from West Africa, I have read. Can't go there, so I would like to buy one.
