Confusing Hallmarks

I have a nice heavy George III ladle, the hallmarks are odd, they are rubbed but you can see a date letter J then another rubbed marked, the curious thing is that it is then mirrored around 1cm away the other way up, then half way up the handle it has a capital A stamped, which is nothing to do with the hallmarks or a maker's mark?
