Gold Plating?
by: Anonymous

Hi Scarlett

if you can see G Silver on gold tag this is a clue to the metal component. This could indicate (if it were a silver color) - German Silver which is also called "Nickel Silver" an alloy of copper, nickel and zinc. German silver is harder than silver is the same color as silver with a greyish tinge. Exposed to air it tarnishes slightly yellow.

However, as the color of the tag is yellow "G Silver" could indicate Gold plating over Silver which is called Vermeil and better quality than ordinary Gold plating over a base metal.

Regards
Mrs M
