The Difference between Majorica pearls, Cultured pearls & Natural pearls
by: Yvonne Hammouda-Eyre

Good Morning!

Adrienne,
you might be interested in reading more about Majorica pearls, information on Majorica pearls can be found Here....

We have had a number of enquiries concerning ways to test if pearls are Majorica pearls. There are some fine imitation pearls in the market, that are very convincing and have actually been mistaken for fine Cultured pearls. Even the easy and reliable "tooth test" may be unreliable when applied to imitation Majorica pearls. Close examination of the surface under magnification however, will reveal a fine "pinpoint" surface that is very different from the smooth surface of Cultured or Natural pearls.

Being that your pearls are in the original box will help to increase the value. We can only provide opinions unrelated to value - "gratis" on the Help forums on Antique Jewelry Investor.

If you would like a Valuation, you will need to fill out an Online Appraisal Form.

Best Wishes,
Yvonne
