What Does This Antique Hallmark - JWB Mean? How Old Is This Ring?

by John Talbot
(Sydney Australia)

My father gave me a ring which he said came from my great, great (and maybe another great) grandfather. I am 62 now so I really would like to know how old my ring is before I hand it onto my son. It is a gold ring with two snakes intwined with diamond eyes.

Hallmarks JWB 15 .625 (ANCHOR SYMBOL) (fancy U symbol).

I believe the JWB might stand for James william Benson.

Thanking you in anticipation - John Bernard Talbot
