Italian Earrings Made in Vicenza
by: Anonymous

Hi thanks for writing in. 18 kt is the common control mark for gold jewelry made in Italy,

I thought it might have been a Spanish mark at first, before I noticed - "marked ITALY" - the spanish assay office is signified by the number 1 and V is for Valencia

however the earrings are obviously Italian - VI is the Italian province of Vicenza - the number will most probably be the assigned number of the registered Italian smith.

We would need to see an image of the L in a plaque to give an opinion.

You might like to consider having the earrings appraised on-line by an independent jewelry expert. Further details and the on-line appraisal form can be found here.

best wishes,
