Austro-Hungarian Hallmark

I have a gold ring with a hallmark of a dogs head facing left. There is a letter A before the head and 4 after. All of this is inclosed in what I can best describe as a coffin shape. Does this mean 14 kt gold from Vienna from around 1860's - 1920's?
