RG in Cartouche on a Gold Ring
by: Yvonne

Maharba,

Thanks for reaching out Neil, I am so glad you found us!

Because the letters RG in a shield on your ring is accompanied by a numeric purity stamp such as "375" and what looks to be an assay town mark, RG is likely the artisan’s signature or workshop stamp. Many antique British & European makers used stylised initials in a cartouche to guarantee their gold.

With care,
Yvonne
