Not a diamond rating
by: Anonymous

I have a small pendant marked 14K followed by the same capital F contained in a cut diamond silhouette. Although the piece contains 16 "diamonds", they are so small that I doubt any maker would have been concerned with indicating their quality. I don't think the F marking has anything to do with them. The pendant does have a very fine 14K chain but the quality of the back of the dependant tells me it's not "the finest". Strangely, under a jeweller's loop, the back shows some very shiny silver areas. Makes me wonder if maybe the mark stands for Filled? Although the front of the pendant looks well made, the diamonds do not appear to be prong set. This, coupled with the lack of a quality finish on the back makes me think that perhaps Gold Filled is the answer.

I am pretty sure this is the answer

Ok so I did some research after reading all of the other comments and I think I came up with the exact answer to your question. I believe the F inside of the diamond is the grade that the diamond was given for its color, several comments said they believed they looked like lower grade diamonds and the F is located inside of the diamond symbol so this would make complete sense. I can remember owning a piece of jewelry a few years or so ago with a similar if not the same marking and I found it to be the grade of diamond as well. Didn’t check the date on any of this posting so I have no idea how late this answer is but if you hadn’t gotten a legit enough one yet I certainly hope this does your question some justice and puts your mind at ease. Your welcome as well ! Lol

Same mark, silver ring

I have a low quality ruby and diamond ring that I bought in Vancouver, BC that has the exact same makers mark. I can't find any info on it either, but the other post about the 'made in Canada' tag is an interesting lead. There is a similar thread that identifies this symbol as Fressen & Co, but I disagree (that symbol is an F in a square-diamond shape, like a playing card diamond). Anyone else have new info?

I believe it was sold on QVC/ HSN
by: Anonymous

I recently purchased a jewelry lot at an estate sale, and a ton of the jewelry was QVC/ HSN. I have a ring from the estate with the same marking, but the stones in mine are amethysts. However, the ring I have still has the original tag around the band- no maker's name, but it does say "made in Canada" on one side of the tag and "9833 size 5" on the other. The tag was computer printed, so it isn't vintage for sure. It came in a generic HSN/QVC black box like most of the other jewelry, which is the reason I would assume it is from there. I'm actually selling the ring and was researching when I came across this thread.

Same but with an OZ following
by: Richard Breland

My ring is old and has a 10k mark in a square section as the band becomes hollow on the inside the closer it gets to the setting. Opposite is another square with a diamond that has an f in the center but following this are the letters OZ. Perhaps it is a way to grade the diamond or cut. I just don't know.

F in a diamond hallmark on my 10k gold ring
by: Anonymous

I am a buyer & seller of jewellery, & also have a ring with this marking in it...I can tell you the stones are not CZ, but look like low quality diamonds to me...They pass the fog test & have phosphorescence under uv light as well. They refract in light like a diamond, with the colours grey & white. I am not a jeweller, but know what CZ looks like...These are not CZ's. The hallmark remains a mystery, but I think it's a reproduction of a Birk's Ring. With a hallmark that closely resembles a Birk's hallmark...

F inside a Diamond

I also have a ring with this mark. I also can gind nothing about this mark any wear. .
I was told it was a jewelry makers mark - fessenden and co but after some checking it does not look to be right.

I've also been told it could be the quality of the diamonds that i've been trying to clarify
