Gold Hallmark Question on Old Gold Watch Fob
by: YVonne Hammouda-Eyre

Hi David the gold marks on the old watch fob tell us:

A&C 9 .375
also 2 boxs.
first box is an anchor sideways
2nd box--is small letter h

A&C are the makers mark
sideways anchor is the Birmingham assay office mark
375 with decimal point before 375 means the piece was hallmarked prior to 1975 - 9ct gold fineness

the date mark is the letter h, the style of the date mark, the "h" will tell you the date, in this case, before 1975.
Without the benefit of a photo to see the date mark is impossible to determine the exact year. When date is determined you can than work out the makers, A&C in Birmingham.

Hope this helps
best regards
