Griity Pearl Test - What it Identifies
by: Anonymous

Hi
They all look exactly the same shape, size and colour in your photo — this tends to indicate they are synthetic HOWEVER we have noticed that the freshwater pearl industry is going ahead in leaps and bounds and kinda outsmarting itself in the process producing strands of freshwater pearls identical in shape and colour.

if they feel gritty against your teeth when you run the pearls along them it indicates the surface of the pearl is genuine NACRE only but to identify the exact type of pearl is another story.

Natural, Cultured and Freshwater will ALL feel gritty against your teeth because they are all coated in the same substance - NACRE!

All the gritty pearl test establishes is that the pearl is NOT a pearl imitation. Cheers Annabelle
