Vintage Mikimoto pearl necklace
by: Samantha

Hi & yes. Vintage Mikimoto pearl necklaces were never knotted between each pearl, only the last 4 or 5 pearls next to the clasp would have been knotted, whereas almost all modern pearl necklaces are knotted, if your pearls are knotted between each pearl then it would prove that the jeweler is lying. Also there would be very slight signs of wear on (your) newish necklace, whereas a vintage necklace is undoubtedly going to show wear, study the "lip" which slips into the fastener, a vintage string clasp will be very well worn. Good luck.

Pearl Quality
by: Brenda

Mikimoto is a brand of high quality pearl and pearl jewelry. They focus on premium high quality pearls. Many jewelers carry high quality pearls without them being Mikimoto brand.

A jeweler who deals in high quality pearls would be able to appraise them, however no way to distinguish them unless there is a clasp stamped Mikimoto on the pearls.

i.e. kleenex is a brand of facial tissue

mikimoto is a brand of pearls
