Star inside a Circle maked 81
by: Roger

Just researched a little and found that the atomic metal compartitive with 81 is Thallium, a white shiney metal used in some imitation jewelry.

I also found that some asian countries marked real gold with a point inside a circle - the point represented as a dot. Wonder therefore if the Star is a take on the point of a compass???

Star inside a Circle maked 81
by: Anonymous

Hi there, I too have Pearl clip-on Earings bearing the stamp of a small star or star fish? inside a circle with the numbers 81. They are white metal and good quality clips.

These were my aunts and she travelled quite extensively to South Africa, China and Japan. Can anyone shed any light on these.

The pearls seem quite uniform -not so iridescent* Almost like a south sea pearls

More Info Requested
by: Anonymous

Hi thanks for writing in. What color is the metal clasp? Can you tell us more about this pearl necklace? Are the pearls cultured pearls? Is each pearl separated by a knot? This may indicate fine quality and provide more clues. Read more about cultured pearls here...

Any information along the following lines, especially in the absence of an image, will definitely help further research.

1. When and how acquired, for example: inherited from grandma 10 years ago when she was in her 80s  OR  purchased at a Flea Market or Auction 6 years ago  OR  picked it up at a Garage Sale from a French family 2 years ago etc

2. Any related family history that may help in focusing our research to a particular Period or Region, for example: I remember seeing it at my grandma's house since I was a little child while still in Virginia  OR  my grandma brought it with her from Germany in the 1950s  OR  my husband found it at a Flea Market in Oregon 20 years ago etc

3. Any other information you may have already discovered and any other details that will help.

with regards
