I have a seemingly art deco style ring. The center stone is an old mine cut colorless diamond with 4 accent single cut chips. The hallmark stamp says "14KT"; "M" and an anchor symbol.

I have a baby ring with the same: M anchor and K. Ring belonged to elderly neighbor (she was born 1905). She bequeathed me the ring. I’ve worn it since her death in 2008 (yes, she was 103). Recently when I touch, hold certain wraps (lead, tin, nickle) I get a black tarnish on my finger where this ring sits.
