European Amethyst Ring
by: Anonymous

Hi Paulette thank you for writing in with the following your question:

" Hello: I was given what appears to be a vintage amethyst ring in a rose-gold setting; hallmark inside looks like a cross or plus-sign inside a circle. There is a deeply engraved tulip design on each side of and below the oval stone setting. Style looks European (spouse's ancestors were from Germany and Ireland, if that helps). Can provide a photo if you'd like to see it. Thank you! "

This ring sounds lovely, I can imagine how beautiful the amethyst is however it is difficult to identify without seeing a photo. A Plus sign, (Vertical and Horizontal Straight Line) in a Circle is the town mark for Bruchsal, Germany on Silver - ca 17th & 18thC

However as you say the metal is "rose gold" I doubt this is the mark. If you meant a cross X this is different again. You are welcome to send through a photo of the mark to yvonnehamoudaATmacDOTcom if you would like me to do further research.

best wishes,
Yvonne Hammouda-Eyre
