Real Winner!
by: Kari

Hello Lisa,

From what you say, it sounds like you have a "real winner" there. I absolutely adore natural pearls and you are very fortunate to have a necklace of them.

I'm assuming they are USA freshwater pearls, but, of course, I do not know that. It's only a guess. Tiffany and other companies used to come out here to Iowa at the turn of the century and first part of the century during the pearl button day rushes and buy up natural pearls. Pearls were just a by-product while the shells were the real money maker back in those days.

Just today a lady posted a photo of some Mississippi River pearls her grandfather had found.

Do you know the type of pearls in your necklace? They could also be Persian Gulf pearls.

I agree with Yvonne...we'd love to see a photo and Yvonne's offer to promote your necklace on her "Jewel of the Month" sounds to me like a great option for you.

I'm of the opinion that natural pearl jewelry will become more and more sought after and popular.

Natural Pearls Appraisal
by: Yvonne Hammouda-Eyre

Hi Lisa your natural pearl necklace strand sounds beautiful. Of course they should be worth more now than what you paid when you purchased them back in 1990 as an investment. Natural pearls are getting rare and rarer to find, they are much sought after by collectors. You mention an X-ray report? I'm assuming you received this report when you originally purchased the necklace strand?
We would love to have a look at your pearl necklace if possible.

If you wish to sell these pearls you should have them independently appraised, maybe GIA.

If you have a recent appraisal and could provide at least 2 good photos, I would be interested in promoting your pearls on Jewel of the Month on Antique Jewelry Investor. (It's only 10% commission IF sold)

best,
Yvonne Hammouda-Eyre
