Single Cut Diamonds
by: Anonymous

Hi Jackie thanks for writing in!

There's a bit of confusion about antique diamond cuts. The SINGLE CUT is 19th & 20th diamond cut and used on very small diamonds under .05 carats.

An OLDER version of the single cut has a squarish girdle outline and is known as the 8 Cut.

PLATINUM:
the weight of platinum is usually a pretty accurate indication of the metal. To confirm use platinum solution and touchstone.

Platinum was not used until the LATE 1800s and most popular between 1900 and throughout the 1930s.

The cut of the diamonds and metal platinum supports a date. ca. 1900-1930s.
