Webster Inside Ring - Question from Western Australia Prospector

Hi my name is John
I am a prospector living in Western Australia, on a recent trip to the Victorian gold fields i found this ring as per pics; the only markings i can find on it is Webster. But no gold marks, unless they have worn off.
It was found in an old creek bed about 1ft down near some of the old timers diggings.

I was going to melt it down, but decided to check it out first,it’s very small and will not fit on my little finger,It weighs 5.35 grams and heavy for its size. my question is: is it an antique ring? and why doesn't it have gold marks on it?
