What does an upper case "A" in a circle mean?

A in a circle on a gold ring
I found some jewelry at an estate sale. There were several rings. They were marked 18k HTE which I know means 18 karat heavy gold electroplate. But there was another mark to the right of the "HTE" which appears to be a capital "A" in a circle.
If this is a hallmark, who is it?
