NF 925
by: Anonymous

If the item is also stamped "Thailand" then it does indeed refer to Nickel Free 92.5 silver

NF does not mean Nickel Free
by: Anonymous

So many posts refer to NF 925 meaning Nickel Free. This is incorrect information. NF 925 is a mark of the CHAPAL-ZENRAY, INC, in Texas, as mass-marketer of jewelry.

NF means...
by: Anonymous

NF means Nickel Free. So if the ring is stamped NF 925 it means the ring is 92.5% Sterling Silver and when the NF is also there it means the remaining 7.5% is not nickel.

NF I read is Thailand silver so if stamped NF 925 it's Sterling Silver.

Sterling Silver
by: Yvonne

Hi Dianne seeing you inherited the ring you probably already have an idea about it's age. It doesn't look antique.

Sterling is a silver alloy, containing 925/1000 pure silver, 75/1000 added metal to give the required hardness. The standards for sterling were established in England in 1562 by Act of Queen Elizabeth; in the United States, by the Stamping Act of 1906. NF - not sure....
