Alligator Harbour and Pearls
by: Anonymous

Good Morning Meagan

please tell us more! The size of the pearl please, also we can't see that lovely pink tone you describe in the photo unfortunately?!

I google stalked Alligator Harbor and found out this stretch of water is a shallow estuary, east of the Apalachicola estuary and enclosed by the Alligator Point sand spit. The harbor is 4 miles long and 1 mile wide with an average low water depth of 4 ft. Because there is little freshwater flowing into the harbor, salinity levels are almost the same as the Gulf of Mexico and it's the salinity levels that allow for the successful clam harvesting industry within the harbor. I believe the bay also contains shallow oyster bars and good fishing areas.

The Pearl that dropped out into your hands, is a Cultured Pearl - right? Not a Natural Pearl?

Love to hear more!

Best Regards

Yvonne Hammouda-Eyre
