Belly Dancing
by: Anonymous

I'm Egyptian, the land of belly-dance and I'd say this chain was worn for "belly dancing" it was probably one of many such chains, some are much more elaborate, worn at the same time, while performing the belly-dance. Laylah

Anyone from Incredible India...
by: Anonymous

It would be interesting to hear an opinion from one of our readers in Incredible India. Belly dancing is synonymous with Middle-East, Egypt, Turkey, Lebanon, but India too have an amazing line-up of unusual jewelry forms, "unsual" in comparison to conservative european style I mean.

I don't think it is a necklace
by: Sue

Hi Kathy
The length of this piece could be telling. It looks quite old too. Would it fit around a waistline? I can't imagine it looking right if it were a necklace. The tassels look quite long and with gravity, the tassels, I would think would look messy and disorganized. I don't believe it was designed as a necklace. How does it fasten?
